Caffe Isola has been a fixture in Newport for as long as most can remember, first starting off in Watchbell Lane in 2006, before relocating to Pyle Street where people have met for coffee, cakes and light lunches for the past 11 years. Owned by Dan and his Italian wife Viviana, today (Monday 4th December) saw the opening of their newest location on the corner of Chapel Street and Upper St James Street. The old Beavis store has undergone 18 months worth of transformation and it certainly does not disappoint.
Although the upper area is not quite ready to be open to the public just yet, the high vaulted ceilings and hanging lights make for a stunning entrance. Quality coffee remains at the heart (of course) and there are plans for a roaster to be on site and even barista lessons for the true coffee nerd. You will also be able to stock up on a range of local produce and crafts from some of the Island’s best-loved artisans.
We predict great things for Dan and his team and are really pleased to see a local business doing so well – make sure you pop in for a lovely local cuppa soon!
