Six local producers had much to celebrate over the weekend, as they found out that they had won Great Taste Awards from the Guild of Fine Food late last week.
The awards originated in 1994 and are recognised as being the benchmark for fine food and drink. The logo is instantly recognisable and something that consumers trust in. This is their guarantee a product has been through a rigorous and independent judging process. It’s not about smart packaging or clever marketing – it’s all about taste. Products are tested by over 500 judges including chefs, restaurateurs, food hall & deli buyers, acclaimed cooks, food writers and critics, between March and July, where they are blind-tasted in small groups of three or four.
The local producers who had reason to celebrate were:
The Tomato Stall’s Pure Isle of Wight Tomato Passata
The Garlic Farm’s A Wight Little Pickle with garlic and parsley
Jasper’s Artisan Coffee with their Nicaragua Finca El Bosque
The Borneo Pantry Pickled Watermelon
Wild Island’s Spiced Fig Relish
Mrs Bucketts Kitchen Homemade Sea Salt Tablet
So why not get out there and try these award-winning products for yourself!
