Go round and round – and so can you this coming weekend! The weekend of the 14th and 15th October is the 4th Isle of Wight Classic Buses, Beer and Walks Weekend. One of the Island’s favourite events is brought to you by the Isle of Wight branch of CAMRA (campaign for real ale) and the IW Bus Museum.
With over 75 pubs across 14 routes you can explore the Island in a totally new way. For 2017, there are a record 70 vehicles visiting from the mainland to complement the IW Bus Museums own fleet. The buses are in immaculate condition and include all manor of years including a 1937 London Bus, all the way through to a 2002 Dennis Dart.
The idea for the weekend is refreshingly simple – purchase a programme and this is your ticket to ride the whole weekend. Then simply get on and get off wherever you like. As well as the ‘typical pubs’, there are a number of sporting and yachting venues to sample, as well as the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. Hop of the bus at Wootton and take board the steam train to Havenstreet where you can enjoy a selection of ales from their Real Ale Bar. Or if you are visiting The Cow Co at Tapnell Farm, you can jump off the bus and into their awaiting tractor to take you up the hill!
Most participating pubs have an exclusive offer on for the weekend, as well as entertainment from live music and real ale festivals and you will be able to sample some fine guest ales for the duration. Don’t forget to vote for your favourite pub of the weekend, the Buddle Inn Niton, is the current reining champ having won three years in a row. They are sitting out the competition for this year so make your vote count!
