The Island is home to many skilled craftspeople and artisans and there is a thriving artistic artisan community. It’s no wonder that their artistic output is fantastic, after all the breath-taking Island scenery has been an inspiration to poets, painters and writers for centuries. Poet Laureate Alfred Lord Tennyson, writers Lewis Carroll and John Keates and groundbreaking Victorian photographer Julia Margaret Cameron all have links to the Island. Nowadays, the Islands artists and craftspeople are building on this rich heritage to produce a wide range of exciting products ranging from painting, photography, pottery, ceramics, jewellery, glass blowing and wood turning.
