Set in the heart of Ryde on bustling Union Street, Alternative Bar & Restaurant offers traditional cuisine with a contemporary twist. Drawing on a variety of inspirations, business partners Zeph and Head Chef Matt, have created a menu that showcases local produce served up in seasonal, unique and exciting ways. You will also find specials that change monthly and celebrate different dining experiences from around the world. During May try North African dishes; June is Japanese month and July sees a Mediterranean menu take centre stage. There is an extensive wine list and a tasty cocktail menu, as well as gin from the local Isle of Wight Distillery. Modern industrial decor complements the large dining space, with up to 30 covers on street level and more upstairs, that can also be hired out for private parties and functions. Gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan diners are extremely well-catered for. The restaurant is open daily for lunch, evening dining and Sunday Roasts are served every Sunday from 12-4pm.
