Meet the landlord/lady – Barry Cass, The Duke of York

Barry is the longest standing landlord on the Isle of Wight.

What is the best thing about being a landlord?
The best thing in all my years of being a landlord has been meeting new people and making some lifelong friends.

What is your favourite local tipple?
I don’t drink much these days, but it would be a pint of Islander from Yates’ Brewery.

Other than your pub, where would you go for a drink?
Any pub that has retained its character and not too modernised – luckily there are still many to choose from on the Island.

I have grown up by the water and can’t imagine not living near the sea. A bbq on the beach looking out across The Solent is a great way to end a day.
