On Friday 4th October Taste was invited to try a new supper club event on the Island.
This genius idea is the brainchild of Paul Thorley, Something Yummy.
Paul is looking to roll out monthly events across the Island inviting foodie lovers to a special, individually themed dining experience. Keep reading to see how you can get involved and grab tickets.
The theme for Friday evening was the “Best of the Wight” using seasonally available produce (where possible). The menu was carefully planned and all Paul’s own recipes.
So, what did we have for our dinner party?
Yorkshire supper, which was fish and chips with a pea/mint puree.
Belly pork with Garlic Farm hoisin sauce on noodles
Goat’s cheese cheesecake with beetroot and herb salad, the cheese was from Green Barn Farm.
Warm mushroom mousse with toasted walnuts, mushrooms from Isle of Wight Mushrooms and freshly foraged walnuts.
Pan fried fillet of sea bass alongside mussels, crevette, a mussel velouté, duchess potato and greens.
Blackberry sorbet shot with apple, all locally foraged.
Mr Yummy’s lemon tart plus a few treats, which included meringue and clotted cream
A selection of hand made truffles with after dinner coffee.
Very tasty food, using quality ingredients and simply executed… we did not go home hungry.
So how about trying this for yourself? On 21st November ‘Mr Yummy’ is holding a dining event at Gurnard Pines. The theme will be Great British Menu and he’ll be serving a variety of dishes over six plates.
