Six sizzling sausages 2000 1335 The Editor

Long gone are the days where you came home from school to have a simple pork sausage, chips and beans dinner. Butchers have gone into competition to create the most exquisite sausages. Using quality meat, herbs and spices the humble sausage is now a masterpiece.

The week of 26th October we salute this versatile fellow during World Sausage Week. Here’s where you can pick up some of the best on the Island.

W.W Woodford Butchers – Bembridge

Made famous from a visit from chef James Martin (who’s a big fan of the homemade sausage rolls), W.W Woodford is Bembridge’s local butcher. Walking in feels like you’re stepping into an old fashioned butcher shop, with a traditional chain screen hanging in the doorway, you’re greeted by a counter filled to the brim with various sausages (and of course other meats).

Brownrigg’s

Sausage flavours have been taken to the next level, with exciting concoctions. Brownrigg’s in Godshill have a cracking range to choose from to liven up any meal. Try a chicken and sweet chilli, pork, sage and red onion or a Christmas themed delight of turkey and cranberry. These deserve a little more than your bog standard ketchup, so liven up with something ‘saucy’ from The Garlic Farm.

Farmer Jack’s

With it’s window display that is second to none Farmer Jack’s has your sausage shopping sorted. Looking for inspiration and maybe a cooking tip or two? Ask the in-house butcher, with over 40 years experience in the trade and he’ll be able to guide you through the counter. The sausages are so popular they are making fresh batches of new and exciting flavours all day, every day.

Briddlesford Farm Shop

Based on a working Guernsey dairy farm Briddlesford Farm Shop live and breathe the typical country shop you’d expect to find. Stocked with an array of local fruit and veg as well as their milk straight from the herd of cows, see them in the adjacent field or pat one of the calves outside. The butcher’s counter has a wide variety of award-winning sausages to choose from. It’s literally your one stop shop for dinner.
