Has there ever been a more perfect pairing than pizza and beer? The staple of any girls or lads night in and with 9th October being national Pizza and Beer Day there’s no excuse not to indulge.

Whether you’re eating in or dining out, the Island has a few options for you…

Joe’s Bar, Niton

A traditional village post office turned bar is probably the last place you’d think for delicious handmade, stone baked pizzas, but the secret is out for this village jewel. Seating is limited inside but the PO (as locals call it) also offers takeaways. Choose from hot and spicy to meatball and a popular garlic mushroom. Delicious! Booking is advisable!

Goddards Brewery

Isle of Wight born and brewed beers are available for home delivery, Goddards offer a fine selection of ales and also a gluten free, vegan friendly lager, Planet Lager. A dry, crisp and clean lager it’ll make a perfect addition to your beer and pizza evening.

Ristorante Michaelangelo

For traditional, authentic Italian-made pizza you’d be hard pressed to find better than Michaelangelo in Ryde. Handmade by Italian chefs they use some of the best locally sourced and also provincial Italian ingredients – for that authentic taste. Whether you’re looking for a traditional Margherita, on a vegan diet (the Vegana is a vegetable delight) or after a Calzone (basically a pizza folded in half and stuffed with foodie treasure) you’ll not go hungry here.

Island Brewery

If you’re looking for an ale over a lager to wash the pizza down, Island Brewery has a very Island inspired collection. Wight Gold is a popular beer and seen at many events across the Isle of Wight. Do you recognise the character on the label? With seasonal and regular ales on offer, a bottle of one of these will take pizza night up a notch. Cheers!

Mr T’s Pizza, Shanklin

Sometimes you just want to grab a pizza and chill at home or your holiday accommodation. Fear not, Mr T’s offer a takeaway and delivery service. For carnivores The Beefeater is a must, sausages, spicy beef and pepperoni – yum. If there isn’t anything that immediately tempts those taste buds you can design your own creation. So grab a bottle of wine, download your favourite movie and enjoy freshly made pizza in the comfort of your own home.
