We all love a bargain and a good deal. With Black Friday and Cyber Monday just around the corner, why not invest in a local business instead and do your Christmas shopping with them. Buy someone a gift as unique and special as they are while helping support a member of your community.

Even when in lockdown we can still support our local shops and suppliers, many have websites or are taking orders via email and some have managed to stay open.

Food and drink

Everyone loves a bottle of something for a Christmas Gift, Mermaid Gin, Goddards and Rosemary Vineyard each have a selection of beers, spirits or wines to give as a great gift and are selling through their websites. For sweet toothed gifters, Sweet Memories at Arreton Barns are taking orders via email for their handmade fudge, I am the Cakesmith bakes cakes to order via Instagram and Say it With Brownies has a website to order these squidgy indulgent bars.

Clothes and accessories

Buying a loved one a piece of jewellery is something quite special, Honeybourne Jewellery are not only locally, but nationally renowned. Visit their website to view a host of handmade, fine silver jewellery. Treat someone to a quality bag, cost scarf or maybe a tie and cufflinks for the man in your life, The Corn Exchange at Arreton Barns are taking orders via email until they can open again.

Homeware

With many of us spending more time at home, making our living spaces beautiful has become a 2020 national project. Bayliss and Booth will not only make your home look stunning but make it smell exquisit too with one of their many home fragrances. Visit their website for a full list.

We all know the jingle, Try Hurst First. This local family run business has oodles of home and cookware. Capitalise on the Bake Off and encourage your loved ones to get their Bake On. Hopefully they’ll return the favour and deliver some baked goodies made in the gifts you gave.

Beauty

Give the gift of looking great. We have a whole host of talented people around our beautiful Island making us look our best. From hairdressers such as Woods, Newport to Fabulash in Ventnor, the teams at these businesses have been hit hard like many others. Contact them to see if you can buy a voucher for a haircut or treatment or maybe a few luxury products.

Visit each businesses Facebook page for more details on them.
