For Yarmouth, Totland, Freshwater, Shalfleet, Shorwell and Brighstone we have put together this list of businesses we know are still offering a service in this area in terms of where you can buy groceries. We have put together a guide for each Isle of Wight area – you can view them here Central, North, North East, East, South and West.

Brighstone Village Shop has been at the heart of the community for over forty years. Stocked with everything from groceries, fruit, vegetables to store cupboard essentials, local dairy products, eggs and more. During this time they are coordinating a daily delivery service. Anywhere between Brook, Brighstone, Calbourne and Shorwell. Orders are typically packaged and delivered on the afternoon of the day after you place your order. Let them know your needs, either by email or by picking up an order form from the shop.  All deliveries are, of course, subject to availability. Opening times are Mondays to Wednesdays, Fridays: 7.30am–9am, 10am–12.30pm, 4pm–7pm, Thursdays: 9am–12.30pm, 4pm–7pm, Saturdays: 7.30am–7pm and Sundays: 8.30am–5pm. Orchards Bros is a long established family grocer in Freshwater since 1865! To this day they continue to offer a wide range of everyday products including groceries, fresh fruit and vegetables, beers, wines and spirits, confectionery, newspapers and National Lottery. They have had a move around in the shop to make more room for customers to shop safely asking that you move around the shop in a clockwise direction, shopping as you go, and then should wait to be called to the counter. Alongside this they offer a delivery service to the local community. 


Shorwell Village Store are offering home deliveries to the local Shorwell and surrounding area.

Shorwell Village Store proudly stocks Island produce including locally-sourced fresh fruit and vegetables, jams, bread, biscuits and meat, plus many major household brand names are always available. If you need milk, a tin of beans, a greeting card, something special from the Island or a bag of coal, you might be surprised what Shorwell Village Store has on its shelves. They offer home delivery in the Shorwell area only with allocated time slots, but they attempt for same-day delivery if you get your order in before 12noon. Your order will be left on your doorstep. One of each item ordered per delivery and a minimum order value of £5 for home delivery. The order hotline is 07426 350488. 


Shalfleet Village Stores are open!

Shalfleet Village Stores sells freshly baked local bread, newspapers, groceries, confectionery, beers, wines, spirits and more. Open as usual during this time with social distancing rules in place – they have new stock arriving daily, including trays of goodies from Scarrots Lane Bakery. They are also staying open for half an hour after their usual closing times offering vulnerable shoppers the chance to shop alone during this time – other customers must wait in their cars until their turn.

Missing PO41 coffee? Although the shop is sadly closed for the meantime you can still get your fix of your favourite blends roasted by their sister brand Inside Ground Coffee. A coffee with an amazing story – based from inside HMP Feltham. Helping to break the cycle of re-offending Inside Ground train young adults to roast and make great coffee. J&B Fisheries have a vast selection of locally caught fresh fish on a daily basis alongside locally caught crab, lobster and prawns from the J&B boat that is moored down at Yarmouth harbour. They also have a large selection of smoked fish, paté and gravadlax all prepared, cooked and smoked on the premises. The shop is still open from 8am–12.30pm with social distancing in place, but for those self-isolating there is a delivery service available, just give them a call at the shop on 01983 752269. 

PJ Thorne Butchers is another of the Island’s great traditional familyrun butchers selling only the best quality meats and poultry from around the UK. They also produce their own multi award-winning sausages made from the finest ingredients available. The shop is open Monday to Saturday 8am–1pm during this time with social distancing in place. Deliveries are also available for any customers who are over the age of 70 and those who have underlying medical issues, causing them to self isolate please ring the shop on 01983 754955 Th are here to help! 


100% Island meat from Isle of Wight Meat Co.

Isle of Wight Meat Co. raise their livestock at Cheverton Farm to the highest welfare standards. A supply chain that is transparent and equitable (from farm to fridge) and a slow, nose-to-tail approach to ageing and butchery. You don’t have to eat meat every day, and as a result, our health and environment will benefit, so eat a little less, but more importantly, eat better. The majority of their stock is from Cheverton Farm, but they do work with other Island farms to offer a wider range of breeds and products. They are currently focused on beef and lamb production, although they’ve recently introduced some pigs to the farm and will soon be able to supply a full range of pork products. Grace’s Bakery have sites across the Island in Shanklin, Newport, Ryde, Yarmouth and Cowes. They are doing home delivery on bread, flour, eggs, pasta, cakes, yeast. Minimum order £8, next day delivery if ordered before 2.30pm. Visit their website to order or call (01983) 566868. Pre-order and collection no minimum order. Call the shops and request items to be reserved before coming in on the day.
