What is the best thing about being a landlady?
It’s got to be the local community that support the pub. We have an excellent, welcoming local crowd and it’s nice getting to know everyone over the years.
What is your local tipple?
Yates’ do an Isle of Wight Lager, brewed with saaz hops with a crisp, light finish.
What is the one dish on your menu you keep coming back to?
The seafood platter. It is full of the freshest, locally-caught seafood including local crab and lobster, prawns, crayfish as well as smoked mackerel and halibut.
Where is your favourite place for a cuppa and a slice of something nice?
I have been going to Chessell Pottery for years and am looking forward to visiting this summer as it has recently been taken over. They have always done such wonderful cakes and scones.
What is your favourite event on the Island?
I always enjoy the bustle of Cowes Week (4-11 August), but I love the various walking events across the Island. The Highdown Inn is in such an excellent location for walking, we get booked up for most walking events.
