Celebrate Chinese New Year 2000 1333 The Editor

Today (24 January) is Chinese New Year’s Eve and it’s the year of the Rat. What does this mean if you’re born under this sign? Well, you tend to be clever, quick thinking and successful along with being organised, instinctive and adaptable.

Are you celebrating the New Year with a takeaway tonight? Here’s a rundown of where to pick up a tasty takeaway…

New China House, Ventnor

For those living in the south of the Island, New China House delivers hot, tasty and authentic Chinese food to your door. If you fancy dining out, you can also sit in the restaurant. Practice using chopsticks and hope you get a lucky fortune in the cookie at the end of the meal.

There’s free delivery for orders with a minimum spend of £12 and within two miles. Villages outside the two mile radius have a delivery charge.

Royal China, Sandown

Tommy at Royal China is always welcoming and has a smile for everyone. A friendly restaurant welcoming couples, groups and families – with children too, there’s something on the menu to suit every taste. If you want to eat at home, don’t worry, just call up, place your order and either collect or they will deliver to your door.

Double Dragon, Freshwater

Double Dragon Chinese Takeaway serves authentic Chinese food. If you’re after an extensive range of dishes made from the season’s freshest ingredients and you live in the West Wight, you can’t go wrong. Whether you’re after simple noodles, something spicy or a feast for a group, give the friendly team a call and have your expandable waist trousers on.

Ming Garden, Newport

Living in the Island’s county town, restaurants are just a stone’s throw away. Ming Garden is always busy with people sitting in the restaurant or ordering takeaways. Open seven days a week, they’re always there for when you have that craving for tasty Chinese food. Head there after work and pick up a takeaway on the way home… everyone deserves a night off from cooking.

Golden Dragon, Cowes

Covering the Cowes area is Golden Dragon, a seriously tasty Chinese restaurant cooking up proper dishes. Whether you’re after soup, something meaty, crunchy veggies or even a crispy aromatic duck you won’t be left disappointed.

Food is available for collection or delivery with a £12 minimum order for delivery.

REMINDER: Robin Hill is holding the award-winning Spirit of the Orient from 14th February. Be in awe with light shows, processions and enjoy a whole host of Chinese cuisine.
